A Journey Through Time: Experiencing the Grand Egyptian Museum

A Journey Through Time: Experiencing the Grand Egyptian Museum

On the second day of the Grand Egyptian Museum’s opening, November 5, 2025, I entered this monumental space with an open heart and observant eyes, carefully absorbing every detail, as if preparing for a meeting unlike any other.

The place was truly breathtaking in every sense of the word—not only because of the carefully designed lighting that highlights each artifact with precision, nor the architecture that harmoniously blends modernity with the wisdom of ancient Egyptian civilization, nor the collections that narrate thousands of years in profound silence—but also because of something deeper I witnessed in the eyes of visitors: a blend of awe, reverence, and genuine passion.

As I approached the Tutankhamun Gallery, particularly the iconic golden mask, the experience transcended the act of viewing an artifact. It became a direct encounter with an entire civilization.
I watched breaths pause, cameras rise, and emotions converge between admiration and deep respect.
In that moment, I felt myself becoming part of this history—not merely a visitor, but a receptive presence within the energetic resonance of the place.

About the Museum and Its History

The concept of the Grand Egyptian Museum dates back to the early 1990s. In 2003, the winning architectural design was selected by the Irish firm Heneghan Peng Architects.
Construction officially began in 2005, though the project faced delays due to various political and economic challenges.

The museum was officially inaugurated on November 1, 2025, and is now considered one of the largest museums in the world dedicated to a single civilization.
It houses more than 100,000 artifacts and presents, for the first time ever, the complete collection of King Tutankhamun in one location.
