Once, I found myself sitting in complete stillness.
I was doing nothing, thinking of nothing in particular, when suddenly a simple yet profound question arose—
perhaps not from my mind, but from my soul:
What does happiness mean?
The moment the question surfaced, something opened within me, like a hidden door.
It felt as though the question was a key that activated an entire inner archive.
Not a single file, but a whole book filled with memories and emotions:
Old images,
Recorded laughter,
Tears I thought I had forgotten the taste of,
Warm tears—not born of pain, but of life itself.
People who came and went, yet their presence still lingers in the air.
Places I reached with my body, and others I reached only with my soul.
I paused.
Had I asked a question, or opened a time portal?
Was I asking about happiness, or about who I am without everything I have lived through?
My tears flowed, but they were not tears of suffering.
They were pure water—cleansing, not hurting.
And I wondered honestly:
Can tears be part of the path to happiness?
In that moment, a deep realization emerged:
Happiness is not something found outside of us.
Happiness is an inner path.
It is not a destination to be reached, but a journey filled with layered emotions:
Longing, acceptance, gratitude, nostalgia, and a sincere love for God.
I felt as though my soul had been waiting for this moment for a long time—
waiting for me to ask,
so it could extend its hand and say:
Come… let us enter together.
To this day, I cannot name my tears,
but I am certain they were sacred water.
I do not know where this path will lead,
but I know for sure that I stepped into the presence of a great truth.
Standing within that answer, hands released, eyes wide with wonder,
I understood something unmistakable:
Happiness is not outside for me to search for.
Happiness is an inner path—and I am the one who chooses to open it.
Happiness is not necessarily a journey,
nor an achievement,
nor a specific person.
It may be:
A deep breath,
A memory that makes the heart smile,
A heartfelt “Alhamdulillah”,
Or even a tear—
A sacred tear that cleanses within, without causing pain.
And you…
If you asked your soul the same question right now:
What does happiness mean?
What would be the first image to appear?
Who would be the first person to come to mind?
Which place would suddenly surface?
And would your tear be one of pain…
or one of cleansing?
Try asking.
You might open a door that has been waiting for you for years.
