Captain Rami Issa, President of the Syrian Basketball Federation, stated that the federation is currently working on improving basketball infrastructure and increasing training hours for staff and players, while bringing in experienced coaches and creating a more professional environment.

He highlighted the main challenge as the shortage of basketball courts, affecting league operations and club preparations, while noting strong support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports to increase court availability in the coming years.

Issa also outlined a plan to enhance technical staff skills and develop youth programs, activate the federation’s marketing office to boost club revenues through sponsorships and advertising, and secure TV broadcasting rights to support the future development of the sport.

He concluded by emphasizing transparency in federation management, denying any frozen funds at FIBA, and focusing on building on positives while addressing gaps to advance Syrian basketball.
